After sitting for their KCPE exams in 2022, the form 1 placement results are finally out. This is after the official release by the cabinet secretary for education Ezekiel Machogu. This year’s selection involves over 1.2 million candidates that sat for the KCPE in 2022.
All the candidates are expected to get a placement as per the government’s 100% transition policy to secondary schools.
As is usual, candidates select secondary schools in various categories such as national, county, and extra county. However, school placement is based on various factors such as merit and availability of space.

There are various ways to check the selection results. This could either be through the SMS code or Online.

Step 1: Visit the SMS menu on your phone
Step 2: Key in the KCPE index number. Then send it to 22263. The SMS costs 25 shillings and is applicable across all network providers.
Step 3: Receive the results. After submitting the SMS, you will receive the results with the placed school.
How to Check 2023 Form 1 Selection Results via ONLINE
Step 1: Visit the ministry or education portal.
Step 2: Click on the type of schools you want to check. Select the county where you did the KCPE, key in your index number, and then submit.
Step 3: After submitting, you will receive feedback on the placement results.
2023 form 1 reporting date
As per the ministry of education guidelines, 2022 KCPE candidates are expected to report by the 30th of January 2023.
To do so, you need to download your admission letter from the ministry of education portal for presentation to the school during admission.
Some of the key information to note is that schools should not direct parents to buy items such as uniforms at the schools’ premises.
