The government through the public service commission has advertised 8000 internship opportunities for graduates. The application process is currently running and closes on the 14th of August 2023.
This is the 6th cohort of internships with the program having started in 2017. It is a program that is meant to allow graduates to gain and advance their skills to enhance their employment chances.
Once successful, the interns are deployed to various government offices to start the program.
Requirements for appointment as an intern
- Have a bachelor’s degree in any field
- Have graduated not earlier than 2017
- Proficiency in computer skills
Job description
- Complete assigned duties mutually agreed on and assigned by the supervisors
- Documenting the relevant skills acquired during the deployment duration
- Active participation in the various mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the program
Duration of the Internship
The internship duration runs for 12 months and is non-renewable
Internship stipend
The stipend is paid as per government rates. However, previously, the government has been paying 25,000 shillings.
Certificate upon completion
Upon successful completion of the internship program, the interns will be awarded a certificate.

The application process is online through the public service commission portal
Step 1: Log in to the Public service commission jobs portal. To do so, you will need to sign up and provide your ID number and password. Then Select apply for the internship opportunities.
Step 2: Fill in the personal details. This includes information such as your name, gender, and nationality.
Step 3: Fill in the academic qualifications’ details, other relevant courses, and membership of professional bodies.
Step 4: Submit your employment history. You should also submit a list of your referees.
Step 5: Submit the application once all the information is given.
